My New Toy

I had to have it. Once I had seen it, I hungered for it, had dreams of making HEAPS of pasta with it, all different shapes and sizes.
Let me warn you, if anyone has the idea to do the same, it is not easy !! A two person (very slow) job. The machine is hard to operate and the pasta does not look the same as the spiral pasta that is commercially made .

This is the product of about one and a half hours work for two people. Bah !Hah! I'm going back to the old method of rolling it out and cutting it into strips.
It was a good idea to start with, the day outside is cold, windy and with intermitant rain, better I thought than watching the footie.

How irritating. Did the ads make it look simple?

Dad has a metal pasta machine for rolling it out. The machine also has additional parts for cutting strips or making shapes. Only one benchtop has the right sort of overhang to clamp the gubbins down on - and he has to open the dishwasher door to do so.

Happy to add his pasta is lovely.

No Michelle, I didn't see it advertised, saw it sitting on the shelf in a store that I shop in frequently. The lady said they were selling like "hot cakes"........
Anyway to cut a long story short, I am a bit of a sucker for kitchen gadgets. I already have a machine similar to your dad's. This new one is the same make as my old pasta roller/cutter which can be fitted with a motor. I wonder if I purchase a motor it might make the job a little easier, because you sure need muscles to turn the handle on this beast.I'll have to look into it. Even Popeye had trouble.(and we all know how strong Popeye is after eating his spinach)
I do agree though, once you've eaten homemade pasta, you'd never buy the commercial stuff again.

Does it do other shapes, too?

I hope it was worth the effort and they didn't clog together?
