Blue on blue

Blue is my favourite colour in the garden. The first picture shows Blue Pacific which grows over the side of the cut out that our house sits on. Disregard the weeds please. I have been unable to do much bending for the last couple of months. We have 7 of these shrubs growing in the garden surrounding our home. They are just about at their best now, after a good winter rainfall this year.
Next is this pretty lavender, which looks much better in real life than in a picture.
Pride of Madiera, an Echium that I planted 2 years ago is about to come into full bloom. I hope it is not monocarpic as is the Crown of Jewels echium. I have saved some of the seeds from crown of jewels...mental note to myself.....time to plant them.
Lastly, only because its not posssible to post more than 4 pictures through Picasa...gnash-gnash...is a picture of this very pretty iris. I'll have to post the other pictures some other time. Off to the Gnomes for afternoon tea soon. Looking forward to that.

Nearly snow.

The weather forecast on the 9 news was for likely snow in the hills. It did not eventuate but we got the next best thing, hail.....pease click to enlarge the pictures. Here we have a shot of it along the southern side of our house.
Next, caught in the Agave. This poor plant will suffer. It is always marked where the hail hits and the leaves will be spotted.
Just another pot plant with hailstones. Wouldn't you know it...the batteries in the camera are ALWAYS flat when you need it in a hurry. There has been some "wild and wooly" weather here for the last few days, rain and wind. Extreme dust storms in the Eastern states. This is SPRING folks !!!

Oh !! What beauty...

Close up shot of the flowers of my beautiful weeping cherry tree
Its such a pity
that as soon as it flowers the wind picks up and blows the petals off. I wish someone could breed flowering trees and shrubs that flower, for longer than one week. I have made a Blog about this tree last year, I know, but I just cant help myself. At least it waited for me to return home from my trip to Canberra.

Home again, home again.......

Pictures of our beautiful Capital City, CANBERRA. Lake Burley Griffin in the foreground
I have no idea what the buildings are, everything is so clean and pretty.
The pictures were all taken from almost the same spot

The plan was to see Floriade
which is an annual festival of flowers, but unfortunately I (we) got the dates mixed up, I was there a week too soon and it was all fenced in. My daughter-in-law has promised to send me some photos.
Canberra is a very pretty place, a lot like Adelaide, with hills surrounding the city.

Canberra, here I come !

I shouldn't be sitting here, wasting time. I can't help myself. Pity Popeye can't come as well, he has 2 incubators full of eggs to look after. The worst part is, I'm going to miss my weeping cherry tree in all its glory this year, the buds are about to burst into bloom.

Thanks to the Mad Gnomes

Many thanks to the Gnomes for a pleasant afternoon yesterday. Delicious afternoon tea, /coffee, and Raspberry wine !! (Kel, it was Yummy!) It was lovely to meet some local "bloggers" :-) . I didn't take my camera so couldn't post a picture of the table laden with wonderful food, so I've chosen one from my library of photos. Thanks to Maggie & Bob for the horseradish plant.

Raindrops...........

..............keep falling, etc, etc. Picture is of salad burnette with raindrops. Looks better in real life than in the picture, but I'm a very poor photographer. I had to take MANY shots to get one slightly in focus. Perhaps it was the breeze blowing the plant while I was aiming the camera at it? Oh well........

On wednesday I'm off to Canberra to see my favourite son (I have only one son, but he'd still be my fav. even if I had more) and his delightful, beautiful, lovely wife. You guessed it, she's my favourite daughter in law. !! LOL. Seriously, he does have a wonderful wife.

I shall be back home on the 9th. armed with memory card full of GREAT pictures, so there wont be any excuse not to post a blog every day. :-) Floriade starts the week AFTER I get home, but there should still be some of the flowers in bloom. At least there wont be the crowds of people, to beat a path through, with my walking stick.!!
